Under new ownership, Wanstead Golf Club set out to invest in its member areas and refresh its brand identity with a new colour palette and contemporary clubhouse design. The brief called for a complete reimagining of the bar and restaurant spaces, delivering an elevated member experience while creating a consistent and modern look across both areas.
Client Brief, the project
Working alongside one of our trusted Main Contracting partners, Shakery Group was appointed on a full design-and-build basis to deliver this two-phase transformation. From the outset, we led the space planning and concept design, producing layouts and 3D visualisations that captured the refreshed brand identity. These proposals were presented for client sign-off, ensuring the vision aligned with both practical requirements and the aspirations of the ownership group.
Phase One: The Bar
The first stage focused on the complete strip-out and redesign of the bar. A striking central bar was introduced as the new focal point, finished with bespoke bar tops, tailored joinery, and bronze-effect beer taps. To unify the look, Amtico herringbone flooring was laid throughout, complemented by new tiling and feature lighting. Dedicated zones for interactive dartboards and a pool table area were retained to enrich the social and recreational offer for members.
Phase Two: The Restaurant
The second stage saw the full redesign of the restaurant. The same brand tones, flooring, and contemporary finishes were carried through to ensure consistency. The restaurant bar area was extended and fully adapted to mirror the main entertainment bar area, seamlessly connecting both spaces. This helped strengthening the new clubhouse identity and creating a welcoming flow between the bar and dining areas.
Project Delivery
Delivered in just six weeks on site, the project was completed with minimal disruption to club operations. From concept through to completion, Shakery Group provided full design leadership and construction delivery, ensuring the vision was realised on time and to the highest standard.
The revitalised clubhouse bar and restaurant now serve as the central hub of the golf club, a place for members to relax, socialise, and enjoy, showcasing the club’s commitment to investing in its community and facilities.
